Canada Wilderness.com®
is a subsidiary of 6809995 Canada Inc.
and was developed to promote wilderness travel in Canada. This site provides
Canadian wilderness tour operators with a specialized directory to promote their
businesses to an international audience. The website has one primary purpose and
was designed with this in mind: to make it easy for a visitor to locate an outfitter or operator by category and region and provide a complete travel resource
centre. In essence, one-stop shopping to book a Canadian wilderness adventure
including a currency converter. Once a visitor has chosen a wilderness travel category, they can interact
with the graphical map of Canada to choose a region and activity. Major sections of
the website are as follows:
Adventure Tours
Adventure tourism is a rapidly growing sector
attracting a worldwide audience. Canada provides a perfect diversity of landscape
to satisfy soft to extreme outdoor adventure enthusiasts.
There are eight different activites included within the Adventure Tours category:
Back Country Skiing; Cat Skiing; Hiking, Backpacking and Mountaineering; Dogsledding; Heli-Hiking;
Heli-Skiing; Horse/ Pack Trips; and Rafting. Recently we have added two new Adventure categories due to
the popularity and growth of ATV Adventures and Snowmobile Trips.
Although Canoeing and Kayaking are classified as part of adventure tourism, they
have been alloted their own category due to the size of the market.
Canoeing/ Kayaking
Canada is home to some of the most challenging
and magnificent river systems in the world. Regardless of the level of
adventure being sought; coast-to-coast and inland to arctic watershed; there is
a perfect setting awaiting any wilderness paddling enthusiast. Canada is home
to a growing kayaking industry, both on inland waters, and sea kayaking in the
coastal areas.
Eco Tours
Eco tourism is attracting international attention
as more people become concerned about protecting the environment. Canada is taking
a leading role in delivering this message through increased government protection
of resources and improved practises by industries consuming resources, in
particularly logging. The extensive range of plant life, animal life, and terrain,
makes Canada one of the fastest growing destinations for the eco tourist. This
activity has also been classified under the adventure category, however, due to
the low level of risk involved, educational and cultural experiences, Eco
Tours has its own category.
Fishing/ Hunting
Anglers will find a fishing paradise in the
Canadian wilderness. Walleye, Small and Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Speckled and
Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Arctic Char and Grayling, are some of the most popular
species sought after. Moose, deer, caribou, and bear are some of the more
popular game animals in Canada. Check the Fishing/ Hunting section
of the website for more information on species available and provincial
regulations. Canadian outfitters are very responsible in the conservation of fish
and wildlife and Canada Wilderness.com® urges
visitors to utilize their expert services and adhere to regulations.
